Laura Linney is an American actor, who became well-known for her performance of powerful but fragile characters. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. Her interest in theatre during the summers spent with her famous father. She studied acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. After just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her debut on TV and film. She has been featured on a number of stages, films and television shows since that time. Her nominations include three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her professional career. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations.
